For those wanting the stats, the overall distance was 104.7 miles in 8 hours, 21 minutes which turns out to be an average of 12.5 mph. It isn't all about speed at my age, especially when riding into an irritating little headwind the last 55 miles of a 100 mile ride. I hope I can still ride a 100 miles when I'm 67 years old.
The organized Southern Magnolia bike ride event, put on the by the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club turned out to be more like a race. 99 percent of the riders were on narrow tire racing like bikes and there were a whole lot of riders in the drop position drafting the person in front of them. There I was on a mountain bike, riding upright, stopping to see the scenery and take photos. It was a fantastic route with almost no traffic. Guess who finished last? This event coordinated by Allison Hinkley was top notch and well run. Kudos to Allison and all the volunteers, including the kayaker volunteers like Nick, Dana, Brent, and Anna. Thanks for a pleasant day of cycling! Lew told me he was going to take a bath when he got back to his motel, an ice bath. Hummm. I tried his idea when I got back home. Brrrrr. When I woke up the next morning there was no pain. Thanks for the tip Lew.

I'm so happy you enjoyed your ride, Rob. Nice going! Glad you took the time to take some great pictures and soak in the South Mississippi scenery. Very kind of you to ride with Lew...sounds like a great new friendship there. Thanks for coming out - hope to see you down here next year!
