A short paddle around in the St. Andrews Golf Course area. Aka Linksman or Cypress Creek Country Club.

The golf course canals are located west of Moore Creek at the entrance to Dog River. There are no kayak launches in the area except across Dog River at Riverside Park. These are nice sheltered waterways with lots of bird watching opportunities. Not many motor boats go up in here making it nice to kayak.

Alligator Bayou, a sub-basin on Dog River watershed is large enough that a kayaker not familiar with the area can get lost in it. Take a GPS with you or map out your trip well in advance. Kayak launch access points are shown on the map above. All charge launch fees except for Helen Wood park which is not launch friendly because of the bulkhead. You will not see many motor boats if you stay off the main channel.
One of my favorite kayak trips is to depart from Delta Landing (Chickasabogue Creek at Hwy 43), paddle out Pumphouse Canal, out into Mobile River along 12-Mile Island, and into Black Creek off Bayou Sara.
Black Creek was rather devoid of life but the birds were plentiful along the shoreline of Mobile River.
