People seem to think all storm water trash is harmless. Is all storm water litter harmless?
Here is a photo of about 6 feet of Dog River Park's shoreline taken this past week. Two spray cans are visible. One is completely rusted through with its unknown residual contents long ago released into the environment.
The other spray can label was still visible. It is Wasp Pesticide Spray. What is in the fine print on the Wasp Spray? Do not water the treated area to the point of runoff. Do not apply during rain. Why not?
The Wasp Spray also says the product is not to be applied in sewers, storm drains, water bodies or aquatic habitat. Why not?
Because the Wasp Spray is TOXIC to fish. It even says the product can damage Evergreen and Holly which I assume are trees.
And this Poison spray can lays on the shoreline of this City of Mobile park being ignored while boaters come and go, while fisherman come and go, while sightseers come and go, and while City of Mobile park maintenance crews come and go.
The City of Mobile employs 32 people to mow grass but it employs ZERO people to seek out and remove toxic products floating in Mobile area waterways. So, storm water trash (some toxic) is left rotting along Mobile's canals, creeks, rivers, lakes and bays. How dumb is that?
Do you swim, fish, water ski or wade in the waters of Dog River watershed or any other waterways in Mobile County? Got Cancer Yet?
