Dauphin Island always amazes me. City workers and Park personnel keep Dauphin Island almost completely trash free - completely opposite compared to Mobile. It is so wonderful to be able to bicycle along bike lanes or bike paths, look in ditches and see nothing but wildflowers. Jeff Collier and the rest of the Dauphin Island leaders deserve a round of applause and especially those workers who appear to take real pride in keeping the island clean. All of you should receive an award.

The loop goes along the banks of Three Mile Creek. On the north side there are several break stations where you can get off your bike and sit down on a bench and watch the herons and egrets in the creek. Down in the USA Children's Hospital medical complex along Walshwood Street there is a multitude of bronze sculptures in the Geri Moultron Children's Park that makes this a ride for young children too. There are a lot of sculptures and beautiful flowers in a well manicured park along winding sidewalks. If you haven't been to this park, put it on your lists of things to do this spring. It is worth a visit.
