The City knows where storm water trash ends up. See the photo above - their waterways. If the City does not have anyone out removing the trash after heavy rains from where it accumulates, that is irresponsible, especially considering the pressure being put on the City by citizens, environmental groups and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) to clean up the City's urban waterways.
If the answer is zero, then John Bell, public works director for the City of Mobile, one of the highest paid
if not the highest paid City of Mobile employee, earning $161,333 a year, should be fired, IMMEDIATELY.
What kind of idiot would leave public garbage rotting in his City's urban waterways for all to see
when ADEM is suing after a fine failed to bring the City into compliance
with ADEM's Municipal Separate Stormwater System (MS4) permit?
The City's new litter trap, installed ABOVE most of the trash generating tributaries in upper Dog River does not count in terms of the number of personnel removing trash from area waterways because the litter trap was put in to appease Dog River Clearwater Revival's threatened lawsuit, not ADEM's lawsuit. The new litter trap does nothing to remove the City's storm water garbage from Bolton Branch, Moore Creek, Garrows Bend, Mobile River, Halls Mill Creek, Rabbit Creek, Maple Street Canal, One Mile Creek, Three Mile Creek, etc.
