Mobile does not have a single dedicated bicycle/walking/running trail in or around Downtown Mobile which is why at 10:30 in the morning on a beautiful Sunday morning, Mobile's renovated Cooper Riverside Park is empty except for the usual vagrants. Mobile is dying a slow death thanks to the Mobile Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission (SARPC).
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson was standing along the Dog River Park shoreline in August. You can see Mayor Stimpson's Youtube video here where he calls the City of Mobile Dog River Park trash by his feet disgusting: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AOMfjL4Bcz0&list=UU33Qqh8Yn0Hz_L7POndBlOw That Dog River Park trash was there in June, July, August and it is still there in September almost a month after Mr. Stimpson called it unacceptable in his video. The same rusted aerosol can is circled in red. If the Mayor wanted Dog River Park cleaned up, he could have instructed the City Parks or Keep Mobile Beautiful people to get out there and remove the trash. Obviously, Mr. Stimpson must hate Dog River folks because he hasn't done damn thing to get the shoreline trash removed from Dog River Park. The city would rather mow through the trash than remove it. Yeay Boy, this new Mayor likes to talk tough about litter but what I observe is the City of Mobile still doesn't give a shit about trashy city parks and waterfronts. Yeah boy, let us continue to welcome visitors and new industry to the trash dump of the south. Welcome to the Shity of Mobile. Someone should be fired. Plus, ADEM should fine the hell out of the City of Mobile for continuing to ignore their MS4 generated trash (some hazardous) along City Parks and other navigable urban waterways. Dogs do not return garbage barrels to the upright position after they knock over a trash can. The three overturned garbage cans seen at UGLY Dog River Park this past weekend looks like a case of human vandalism. What about the trash left around the picnic table at UGLY Dog River Park despite there being a trash barrel 50 feet away? That must be a case of people who want to degrade Mobile. Mobile is full of that type of criminal element because there is no Painful punishment to deter criminal behavior. An interesting reality show on television called "Utopia" puts the prison system in perspective. One of the participants who took pleasure jumping on cans of the group's food thereby destroying it could not stop talking about how good prison food is. No wonder why the return rate to the prison system is so high. Mobile's utopia is being trashed daily by bullies and misfits who have no incentive to change their criminal behavior because the prison system does not dish out real ass whoopings as punishment for unacceptable behavior. Alabama State Highways in Mobile are looking real UGLY under the leadership of Governor Robert Bentley and the new Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson. Can you see the plastic tape mixed in with the natural eelgrass on this Mobile Bay shoreline? Alabama's Alligator Hunt is over. What do rednecks do with Alligators. Same as they do with their garbage. Find a secluded place and dump it. Some doofuss must feel pretty proud for killing this alligator. Hope God is as compassionate to him as he was to this alligator. Too bad Alabama doesn't promote hunting dogs not on a leash or fenced in. Wild dogs are far more dangerous to people than shy docile alligators. You do not need a canoe or kayak to see the trash in Three Mile Creek. Just look out over Conception Street Road bridge. Roadside Trash Dumps are a consequence of poor trash collection planning. The reason illegal dumping is so common in Mobile is because city planners and leaders have NOT provided a single convenient place in the entire City for City residents to dump a pickup truck load of household garbage, or tires, or televisions, or furniture, etc. Mobile residents come and go and often need to dispose of some of their worldly possessions because they can't take it with them to prison. According to the City of Mobile website, the nearest household trash dumping site is 40 miles away in Mt. Vernon, Alabama. With the price of gas soaring, who wants to drive to another City and pay to drop off a pickup truck load of trash? The faster and cheaper solution is for them to wait until it gets dark and drive to the nearest secluded bridge crossing or seldom traveled road and dump it free, illegally. Better yet, they can just look for the nearest inviting City of Mobile "No Dumping" signs to find the well established safe locations to dump their trash. UGLY illegal trash dumps are simply the consequence of the public not having convenient places to get rid of the things they do not want any more. The solution is simple... |
