What is in your drinking water? All the chemicals tobacco companies put in their addictive cigarettes. That is because the end destination of cigarette butt litter is public waterways. There will be negative consequences to ignoring the polluting of Earth's waterways with proven cancer causing products. Everyone on Earth now consumes the chemicals put in Cigarettes. Got cancer yet? No Consequence Equals No Change? For example: Helen Wood Park in Mobile Alabama. Almost every time I visit that City of Mobile park there is trash on the ground and an overflowing open barrel trash can without a lid on it nearby. Someone's recent solution? Triple the number of garbage cans in the small park. Result: Almost every time I visit Helen Wood Park there is still trash on the ground even though there are at least a half dozen garbage cans mere feet away from the people fishing. The real problem? The park owner (city) does not expect and demand that park users (mostly people fishing) keep the city park clean. Result: Almost every time I visit Helen Wood Park there is trash on the ground even though there are at least a half dozen garbage cans mere feet away from the people fishing. As long as there is no consequence to park users for leaving the public grounds around them littered with their trash there is no reason for park users to change their uncaring (and ILLEGAL) behavior. Solution: Erect some new signs saying in effect that if park users are going ignore litter on the ground instead of putting it in the trash cans where it belongs, the park will be closed. "Park Closed Due To Littering." Signs like that will cause quite a stir. People do not appreciate what they have until they lose it. But, a community has to have leaders that care about the environment to make litter rules with real consequence and it must have an enforcement department willing to back up the litter rules. Unfortunately Mobile is stuck with a bunch of wimps on the City Council which is why Mobile remains the trashiest City I have ever seen. What does the Mobile School Board, the Mobile WAVE bus system, the Alabama Department of Transportation and the City of Mobile have in common? They all ignore the littered bus stop at 1200 Springhill Avenue (US Hwy 98), a bus stop with no garbage can. Yeah boy, the City of Mobile is sure getting tough on litter huh? This littered roadway sure explains why most of the creeks in the city limits of Mobile are lined with trash. Mobile's litter enforcement department is about worthless. *Headline reads, "Mayor wants ice skating rink downtown." The ice rink would be open two months from November thru January at a cost of $132,350. Duh, the City of Mobile cannot afford to remove the litter from the shoreline of the Mobile Convention Center, but the Mayor wants to spend taxpayer money to install a seasonal ice rink next to the trashy Convention Center? The Hank Aaron baseball stadium seats are about empty during games because of lack of interest by Mobilians and leaders think outdoor ice skating in winter in Mobile is going to be popular? That is hilarious. Department of Duh thinking. My opinion of Mobile Mayor Stimpson just dropped to an all time low. The city of mobeel should spend more money picking up the litter from City properties first! *http://wkrg.com/2015/09/04/mayor-wants-ice-skating-rink-downtown/ If neither the property owners or the businesses of Mobile area shopping centers will keep their area clean, the City of Mobile needs to issue an ultimatum. Yo, Dollar Polluter, pick up your property litter regularly or lose your license to do business in the City of Litter. If these trashy Dollar polluters choose to leave their property littered like this, the City of Litter litter enforcement department should shut down the Dollar Polluter business and send the apathetic corporate giants packing to operate in some other uncaring community. A look at the parking area around two convenience stores on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile show the areas still littered with public trash. Yeah boy, the City of Mobile's tough new litter code and beefed up litter enforcement department is really effective eh? Just kidding. The litter enforcement department is not going to get the area around convenience stores kept clean unless they start shutting down businesses that ignore the litter their customers toss on the ground around their property. These photos were taken Aug 28, 2015. This is the trashy condition of Maple Street Canal after filing complaints about the storm water trash in this quarter mile long waterway in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Complaints went to the City and State and media and legislators and all the Environmental Enforcement agencies. Obviously no one gives a damn what is floating in Mobile waterways, even after YEARS of complaints. Got cancer yet? It is funny as hell to see that the Mystic Striper Society's Mardi Gras storm water trash is serving as the transportation vector for the exotic and invasive Apple Snail in One Mile Creek in Mobile Photo of the shoreline along the Yeend Street Canal which ends up polluting Garrows Bend which in turn is connected directly to Mobile Bay. No leaders seem to care about the plastic and styrofoam pollution coating Alabama waterways. I pray that the Creator of Life on Earth and the Spirits of the Earth will appropriately punish the environmentally apathetic State of Alabama. Oh YaHWay, cause much strife in the life of all the environmental leaders of Alabama. Oh powerful forces of Nature, please turn the water abundant State of Alabama into a drought stricken desert and then set fires to burn the State to the ground to get rid of the plastic the Alabama communities are too lazy to recycle. |
