Blight: An UGLY, neglected, or rundown condition of an urban area.
Who is letting grass along Mobile's road right-of-ways grow 6 feet tall?
Who is leaving grass clippings and mowed up litter in City street gutters?
Could the culprits be Mobile Public Service Workers that keep roadsides mowed?
City of Mobile Council Vice President Fred Richardson is the Chair of Public Services Committee. That could certainly explain why the grass grows tall along some City streets and City parks. The bible thumping old codger seems to be out of touch with reality.
And now Freddy wants to make sure that old homes cannot be torn down. Yeah, we need more old rundown homes in Mobile.
I hope Freddy enjoyed his taxpayer funded trip to London England. According to a July 10th, 2014 Langniappe article by Dale Liesh, "Mobile delegation takes off for international airshow Friday" it is Fred's 84th trip on behalf of the city.
Meantime the City of Mobile can't afford to remove the litter from their polluted waterways and parks. Nor can the City afford to keep their parks and roadsides mowed.
Someone needs to do some serious auditing of Mobile's revenue for the past decade. Even after voting to raise Mobile's sales tax it seems departments are still understaffed and underfunded. Where did all the sales tax revenue go?
