The City of Mobile announced it is going to get tough on littering. Don't listen to the City's rhetoric. Just look at the roadsides in the City of Mobile which are teeming with litter. So far Mobile has NOT gotten tough on littering.
What about the folks next door in Mobile County? One look at the garbage control at the big corporate "Dollar" stores in Mobile County shows the reality. Corporate Dollar store managers don't care about keeping the environment around their stores clean. Corporate profit is more important than the environment.
Mobile County litter codes says, "It shall be a violation of this Ordinance for any person having an ownership interest in real property, or who leases or manages such property, to allow, permit, or suffer the accumulation of junk, junked motor vehicles, litter or rubbish for more than fourteen (14) days..."
14 days? Just look at the these two photos taken about 300 days apart and you'll see Mobile County litter codes are not enforced any more than the City litter codes. Welcome to Mobile - Home to the Bay of Pigs.
It is time for Alabama to rename their welcome center signs in Mobile County from "Alabama the Beautiful" to "Alabama is Ugly."
