The WKRG news article by Tiffany McCall says the City says dialing 311 is the quickest way to report trash problems. Why should I have to report the trash along Conception Street Road when it has already been reported by another citizen and the City has already promised to clean Conception Street Road up in 3-5 days. That was two months ago. Much of the trash obviously has not been removed. No one appears to maintaining that roadway.
Welcome to City of Mobile. If you want more trash blight, vote for Sam Jones. Then again, maybe the City of Mobile leadership or the waste management mafia is leaving the City trashed on purpose to help promote privatization of garbage and trash pickup. A good portion of the roadside litter is related to the declining garbage pick up services. I had to clean up after the garbage truck emptied my neighbor's trash the other day. City garbage services ignore trash that spills to the ground and trash that flies out of the back of trash hauling trucks. The roadside trash issue in Mobile can't get much worse than it is now. I'd personally rather pay a little more for private trash pickup services if the roadsides were left clean. For the trash seen in the below images, having been complained about and highlighted by the media, to still be there two months later, is unacceptable.
In case you think I'm just using trash issues in the news to take cheap shots at City Public Works services, you might note I've been monitoring the trash along Conception Street Canal since October 2011, long long before the recent complaint. Here are links to a few of my previous observations:
