The much needed bridge to be built over Mobile River to put an end to the traffic crippling backups finally passed a 10 year milestone by the release of a 2000+ page environmental impact study. Praise the Lord!
Bad news though. Also on the news was a story that there will be a lawsuit to stop the Bridge project because the Bridge, supposedly as tall as the Golden Gate Bridge will harm the view in Downtown Mobile. Huh?
Then I saw a story by WKRG TV that said Mobile has a new accolade to boast about which is Mobile ranks number 2 in the nation for deadly car crashes. Who stands to profit from keeping the traffic situation in chaos? Lawyers. Now it makes sense.
Plus, downtown Mobile is big on the party scene with quite a few alcohol drinking establishments and the location of yet another downtown booze place was just announced. Yea boy, Mobile needs more bars. Moon Pie! Par-Tee!
Did you know the clinical side effect from the consumption of alcohol is depression? With all the drinking going on in Mobile, it makes sense why Mobile was also recently rated as being one of the most miserable cities to live in. Depressed people are miserable. Miserable people don't care. People who don't care litter. It All Makes Sense.
Mobile has a nice baseball stadium which they are apparently having problems getting people in the stands during games, but Mobile has no problem filling up the bars. Alabama was also recently shown as the state having issued the LEAST DUI tickets.
Anyone notice there seems to be more lawyer ads bombarding the TV airwaves than there are new car ads? "Been in a wreck? - Call So and So." Can't win the lottery or at the Mississippi Casinos? Get in a wreck, blame the other guy, and call a lawyer.
But, it is what it is. Government entities make big bucks of the sale of the drug called alcohol that turns mild manner people into raging lunatics. The prison is loaded with people who probably don't have much recall what they did while they were drunk. The families of those killed by the drunk drivers need a lawyer to get their justice. Of course, prisoners needs lawyers, too. Ever notice that people committing violent crimes were out on bond for a previous arrest?
Isn't this system of state sponsored drug (alcohol) sales, lax traffic law enforcement, aggressive lawyers, and the revolving prison door for alcoholics and other career criminals wonderful?
Speaking of lawyers, it takes almost 15 years now for a state to carry out a death penalty sentence and when they do kill an inmate on death row, States still haven't figured out quick way to kill someone. A cop said all it takes is a 67 cent bullet to swiftly put an end to a death row inmate's life. Why does it take so long to carry out a sentence? Does the word Lawyer comes to mind?
If I was earning $300 an hour or $30 for 6 minutes of work, I'd probably want to stack the system so there is a never ending supply of clients too, even if it involves stopping a bridge project. Looks like the rear end collisions on the interstate because traffic comes to a grinding halt on I-10 will continue. It all makes sense.
