ADEM should be called the "Alabama Department of Environmental Malarkey" because ADEM’s water quality programs are meaningless, at least in Mobile County.
These recent photos from Bayou La Batre show how effectively ADEM keeps Alabama waterways clean to the "Maximum Extent Practicable." ADEM must mean to the "Minimum Possible Extent" which is to totally ignore City generated waterway trash pollution because that is what Cities in Mobile County are allowed to do.
ADEM’s water quality rules basically allow cities to pollute State waterways with as much garbage as the want, some hazardous, and get away with doing absolutely nothing to remove the trash even after complaints.
