Grass clippings left near a storm water inlet constitutes a violation of City of Mobile Municipal Code.
The City of Mobile has over the past two years started transferring regular mowing work from City workers to private landscaping companie. I wonder why? Could it be the City cannot get their Mowing department workers to mow per basic City standards?
Here is a photo taken after a City of Mobile park was mowed. Grass clippings were left on the sidewalk and in the street gutter not far from a storm drain in direct violation of City Code.
To make matters worse, whoever did the mowing did not bother to edge the sidewalk. No wonder why so many sidewalks in Mobile are overgrown by grass making many City right-of-ways look blighted.
The City council should raise the sales tax by another penny so the City can afford to edge sidewalks and mow per basic City municipal code standards. Ahhh, forget raising taxes. The council members would probably squander the additional taxes on another money losing venue.
